Exquisite Muse, by Juanky Ruido. |

The musical spectrum which has influenced Muse is extremely wide, as you are about to see in the next videos: From Nina Simone’s soul to the classical rock of The Animals (in this case they didn’t get too original choosing one of the most covered songs in music history: “House of the Rising Sun”, which is here merged with one of their greatest hits, “Time is Running Out”).
The special guest this time is no other than… Glastonbury audience! As if being the vocals to The Animal’s song wasn't enough, they decided to take the lead in this dedicated performance of “Time is Running Out”!!!

And from classical rock to more contemporary sounds… Muse’s musical range is beautifully wide: here we can find them breathing new life into one of Prince’s masterpieces, just a few days after Prince’s passing (link: here you can find more Prince). Although the cover starts just a little low, it gains strength towards the middle and ends up with that Muse print… Don’t miss that epic ending “Sign of the Times”…
Although it might seem the opposite, Matt Bellamy is not a “trained musician” (I remember an interview where he talked about his problems reading scores) but the influence of classical music in many of his compositions is undeniable. Therefore, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise when we watch them playing one of the most famous adagios (Adagio in G minor, Albinoni) or this outrageous performance of Rachmaninoff which will perfectly illustrate Mr. Bellamy’s ability to play piano… Captivating!

Let’s focus now in an aspect of the band which I really admire: they love sharing the stage with other artist. They have done it many times and they don’t do it with “ordinary guys”.
In several occasions they have been compared to U2: “The new U2” or the 21st century-U2” were some of the “original” nicknames the band had to bare in their first years (musical critics, always so creative…).
Well, far from running away from that label, Muse didn’t mind playing one of the greatest hits of the Irish band… with no other than The Edge in person!!! To leave us this huuuuuuuuuge cover (and very faithful to the original) of “Where The Streets Have No Name”.

And they just did something similar when Brian Johnson was “fired” from AC/DC (and replaced by Axl Rose). Muse used one of their gigs to “defend” Brian Johnson, inviting him to get on the stage to make an extraordinary cover of one of the most immortal covers of the Aussies.
It is absolutely praiseworthy that a band like this don’t just let other artists share the stage: in this case, Muse take a back seat during the first part of the song and enjoy the role of being “Brian Johnson’s super-band”!!!
Enjoy this performance (at least half than Mr Johnson did here!)

And as we have shown you several times in other post of RuidosyZumbidos, music is a tricky business: it is difficult to establish where influences start and finish because when music styles blend, we find a magical wheel of infinite feedback…
The result? A re-version of one of Muse’s best-known tunes by a classical guitar player.
We are sure it will leave you open-mouthed!

Exquisite.
Like them.
Exquisite Muse.
PS.: The adjective exquisite comes from Latin exquisitus (specially chosen, distinguished and refined) which in fact is the past participle of the verb exquirere (inquire, search, look for something carefully and choose it)…
